Back to School

I snagged a quick picture of all 4 before Spencer took emery to her first day of 7th grade. Campbell is in her last year of elementary school (5th), Griffin is 2nd grade and quinny started kindergarten! She gets out at 11:50 almost every day.
Quinny in her little kindergarten line... she has the pink shirt and blue backpack. She gets to be the 3rd in line every day.
Griffin has a really great teacher this year. I get to listen in on the class every Friday while I do their homework folders and organize their projects to send home. I sometimes quietly cry-laugh in the corner at some of the things Griffin says during class. He says stuff so seriously but he talks like a little cartoon character.

Waving goodbye as they march into class is very important. And a hug and a kiss. And now the kids have smashed all our yearly family mottos together into a long saying "Choose the right, even if you're the only one. Have courage and be kind. Let your light so shine..." So sometimes Quinn's yelling "Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and... that... umm... glorify your father... IN HEAVEN!!!" as she's walking into the classroom.
Quinny learns the funniest songs in kindergarten. Some are so morbid. One was about a little short fat pumpkin that's going to get sliced up and scooped out for halloween. Her latest song is about a turkey sitting on a fence "singing sad sad tune" because Thanksgiving is coming and he is all depressed because he'll be eaten soon.
Our walks home from school are filled with quinn's stories and songs from the day. Most of the stories end with "But then they blew the whistle so I had to put my lunch away/line up/get off the swing/stop riding the bike..." She hates that darn fun-killing whistle.

And campbell has a teacher she REALLY wanted so she's super happy. Mrs. Merletti appreciates Campbell's humor, strengths and uniqueness. It has been a really good year so far for Campbell.
