little hands can help too

For the State of California today was Mormon Helping Hands day. Every stake and ward organized service opportunities for the members to perform. In our area we were asked to help weed and clean by a local library/ballpark/trail. We thought that Spencer would be the only one able to help out but once we got there and dropped him we loaded up the stroller and went to find something to do.

It turns out that little kids with lots of energy are really good at picking up trash so that's what we've been doing all morning. The minimum age to help was 6 years old so we were not official helpers and did not get to wear the yellow "helping hands" vests but we still tried to work just as hard.

The girls got a very big bag of trash and I am so proud of them. They even got some little kids near the ballpark to help them pick up. I am glad there are so many opportunities for me to teach them how to serve and how to be good missionaries. This picture is for them to see in the future and remember the good feelings that they had after spending so much time helping out.

Very cool! Way to go kids! (and Allie & Spencer, too) We cleaned up a park for Helping Hands as well. Luckily our Primary provided activities at the park for the kids, and had them weed the sandbox while the older folks were doing other work. It's fun to know so many members were out working in their community on the same day!

Hope you and your family are doing well!
