Fort Story

We wanted to see Cape Henry Lighthouse and it's located inside Fort Story, an active military base. So, to get inside we had to have our car and licenses examined. The most entertaining part of the visit was watching the cars in front of us who were waiting to be searched. I tried to guess why certain people were told to make a U-turn and scram.

The fort has a nice beach to walk on...

Here's the old Cape Henry Lighthouse- built in 1792. The new Cape Henry Lighthouse is located right next to it.
This cross commemorates where the Jamestown Settlers first landed.
griffin's saying "hot hot hot hot hot" in this picture. Then keep your shoes on little guy!

Overall, the girls loved the shell collecting and griffin loved the old amphibious vehicle parked by the road. Because of the fort's location on the beach there is a lot of amphibious operations training.
