September

The smoky, orange, dark day we had from the fires burning all around us. I sure was glad when those fires were put out and we were able to go outside again!
Griffin and Quinn doing an activity where they have are each an animal and there is a limited food supply in an area. How many beans are they each going to get and can the food source support the animal population? Our homeschool is filled with riveting stuff like this.
Moving on from demoing the floor- next we said goodbye to the vanity. Well, our expert demolition child said goodbye to it. Those sinks were almost 40 years old.
Tile day! We spent a loooong time getting the floor all ready for tile. We learned a lot and should have done the girl's bathroom first because theirs turned out even better than ours. We are so lucky to have Dad come out to help with a lot of our projects. He taught Emery how to cut and lay tile.

As a side project, Emery pulled the wood out of the crates they shipped the vanities in and decided to make a dollhouse. I should have cropped that water barrel out of the pic but now it's reminding me of the work we've been doing to be more temporally prepared.
We stalked the DMV website for weeks waiting for them to start putting appointments online for drive tests and finally got one! It was a fun day and I'm sure glad she passed the test! She said it was crazy because the test administrator covered half the car in plastic wrap, they were both wearing masks, and driving with the windows down so she could hardly hear a thing he was saying to her.  Also, apparently most 16 year olds don't show up to take their test in the big family car.

More jigsaw work on the dollhouse.

Cousin Lyla had a super fun unicorn birthday party. Katie found the cutest games, crafts and favors for the party guests.
Spencer turned 40 and we wanted to celebrate (without the big illegal covid party) so we went to Catalina Island for a few days. So fun! and delicious and relaxing and beautiful! Thanks Mom and Dad for watching the kids!
We got a few boat rides in, loooots of seafood and walked everywhere. The city is tiny.

The whole city of Avalon in one pic.
Bonus! Because of coronavirus the restaurants moved all their seating outside onto the beach. 1000 times better than just eating inside!
We came home in time to get Griffin and Quinn ready for their Primary Program. We sent in videos of them talking and then pictures of them holding the Book of Mormon. The Primary compiled it all into a cute video for us to watch. Griffin's last Primary Program was a success!!
