DC week continued

We visited the Natural History Museum twice because it was very kid-friendly and they loved it. They thought Grandpa Neil would like to have a picture of the birds so here you go... There is a whole hallway of these stuffed birds. You can tell they used to be in a more prominent place but over the years they got moved to darker and more out-of-the-way places in the museum.
The upstairs has a bug exhibit with interesting info about bugs and a collection of weird and creepy spiders/insects to see. The girls got to hold a few bugs that you would never see me touching.
At the American History Museum the girls spent lots of time at this dollhouse. Sigh... I hadn't even heard of the lady who collected these. I was tapping my toes trying to divert their attention to the inaugural gowns of the First Ladies and the Original Star-Spangled Banner. Love this museum- very interesting items on display.
I thought I'd include a few pictures from the Postal Museum. How come no one sees this museum? It's awesome. We had the place to ourselves and it was really neat. I loved reading about the ways mail got/gets around. The kids climbed on a few trucks, a train, a semi and a stagecoach. They also traveled through the woods and saw what it was like to be a pony express rider.

A few days later we walked by the Capitol Building, went to the American Indian Museum and the Air and Space Museum. I never got pictures in those. Also, we went to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing- this was very fun for the girls. griffin was beside himself because there was a "no food" policy on the tour and he doesn't like to go more than 5-10 minutes without having some snack popped in his mouth. So, he was in the Ergo on my back (no strollers allowed on tour) and I snuck pieces of bread into his mouth so he'd stop whining "num num num num num num..." in my ear.
